Please fill out this form if you're interested in any of the above joeys! :D Thanks!

Kozi Gliders Adoption Questionnaire

¤ Joey Status Descriptions ¤

Available - This means no deposit has been placed on this joey yet and they are available, it does not necessairly mean they are ready to go home. Please check the 'ready' date to make sure. If they're too young you may place a deposit to reserve them and they will be ready for pick up on the date listed.
Pending - This means interest has been mentioned and someone may be placing a deposit within the week. If for whatever reason this falls through or if the deposit is eventually placed the joey's status will be updated as soon as possible.
Reserved - This means a deposit has been placed on the joey. There is still a chance the buyer could back out or fall through and the joey may become available again.
Taken - This means the joey has been paid in full and is awaiting pick up from their new mommy or daddy!

Please e-mail me if you would like to be on a waiting list for potential joeys. Deposits will be accepted once the joeys are a minimum 1 week OOP. Deposits can vary from 20-50% depending on the total price of the joey. I may consider a payment plan depending on the price of the specific glider. Prices are non-negotiable though discounts will be available for purchases of multiple joeys, especially twins. (Remember, it's always best to have a friend for your little guy/girl. They're very social critters!) Gliders will not be able to leave mommy and daddy until they are at least 8-12 weeks OOP. (They may be held slightly longer if I feel it is necessary. So the 'ready' date in the descriptions will be the day they turn eight weeks old, though depending on how they're developing I may hold them a bit beyond that date.)

All joeys will come with their full lineage(printed out as well as listed on thepetglider.com), a print out of their diet and the recipe for the HPW mix, a fleece sleeping pouch, a small packet of treats(along with some snacks for the road).
If being shipped: They will also come with their plastic airline-approved shipping crate, a small animal carrier for trips/outings, multiple fleece blankets, a sleeping pouch or two, apple slices for hydration and snacking during the trip, heat packets(depending on time of year) and all else listed in the prior paragraph.

¤ P o l i c i e s ¤

We do have a basic contract that we require be signed by the new parent(s). It talks about basic breeding rights or pet only rights, providing the animal with proper care(a healthy diet, though it is not required that you feed OUR diet!) and living conditions, a health guarantee, etc. If you plan to adopt two joeys from the same litter and they are different genders you will be required to sign a special contract. You will have to either agree to have the boy neutered within a specific period of time or to house them seperately. (For example, two different colonies/breeding pairs, preferably with a minimum of one other glider.)
Also, if for whatever reason you are unable to care for your sugar glider any longer you must either return it to us or contact us, we may be able to pick it up from you depending on the situitation, or ask us about rehoming it for you or assisting you in placing it in a new loving home. (We have quite a few applicants on file so it may be pretty easy for us to find someone willing to adopt your babies.) We just want to make sure they're in the best situitation possible and understand that times can be hard and you may be unable to support them. So long as you're sincere and honest we will be more than happy to help in any way we can. (This will not include confiscating your babies if for some reason they need to stay with family or something of the like. Some contracts are VERY strict and a bit overwhelming, we're not looking to control your lives, not by any means!)

¤ D e p o s i t s ¤

If you'd like to have a joey held for you until it's ready to be picked up/shipped, a 50% deposit will be required as soon as you've made a decision and you have approval to adopt. (Joeys can be reserved only once they're OOP for about a week, typically, though final price can depend on how coloring develops up until the age at which they leave our home.) Deposits can be paid via cash, PayPal, money order, or cashier's check and are non-refundable. We also now accept any major credit card(Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Amex.) either through paypal or at our location, as well. (The only instance in which a deposit will be refunded is if anything happens to the joey before it is ready to adopt, such as any health problems or anything along those lines.) No deposits will be refunded due to a last minute change of mind. Make sure you're ready and have made a serious decision. This isn't just a splurge, it's a commitment. We are NOT looking for impulse buyers, we would be happy to give you time to think it over. Remember, your new sugar glider(s) will live for up to 15 years, sometimes even a bit longer. Please be ready to be able to provide a loving long-term home for the joey(s). They will bond to you and your family.

¤ P a y m e n t ¤

Joeys must be paid in full by the time they are 8 weeks old. If you'd like to work out payment arrangements, you're welcome to contact us. We will not charge daily/monthy fees after a specific period of time, though if you haven't picked your glider up by the arranged date(later than 8 weeks of age) or made other plans with us he/she will be surrendered. Joeys can not be picked up/will not be shipped until they have been paid in full(unless you have made a special arrangement with us). Please use the contact form to discuss specifics with us. We're happy to help work out a plan that works for the both of us to help you expand your family.

¤ T e r m s ¤

OOP - Out Of Pouch. Gliders are marsupials, their young mature in the mother's pouch. The joeys are as small as a gran of rice when they're born, they crawl up into the pouch at that size and attach to the mother's nipple. They stay there and continue to nurse and mature until they're ready to come out of the pouch. (Pretty much when they're too big to fit anymore, you'll see tails and feet start to protrude from the pouch before they actually come out.) That is the date at which most breeders list, the 'OOP' date. So it is not TECHNICALLY a 'birth' date, but it's pretty hard to catch the ACTUAL birth process as the joeys are SO tiny at that point in time. The joeys will be 'out' of the pouch before their OOP date. The mother will stretch the pouch open and take the joeys out to clean them while they're still nursing. The first day they're detatched from the nipple is their technical 'OOP' date.

Phenotype - "Phenotypes result from the expression of an organism's genes as well as the influence of environmental factors and the interactions between the two." This will be where you find the color of the joey as well as any possibly color traits they may carry.

Het - "Heterozygous". This means the joey is 'het' for carrying whichever gene is in question even though it may be standard gray in color. The gene has a chance to carry over from the parents. Leucistic, Creamino, Plat, etc are some examples of what joeys could be het for. That means if you pair up two joeys that are het for the same gene they have a chance to produce that color joey when/if they breed.

Lineage - Lineage is the joey's family tree, essentially. It's a record of the joey's parents, grand parents and so on. It's best not to breed any gliders without this information as many gliders are related to eachother to some extent. (Especially when people breed without lineage and then sell those joeys, there's no way to tell who they came from or who they may be related to.) There are no where near as many gliders in the US as there are dogs or cats for example, so the gene pool is much smaller and thus you have a higher chance of inbreeding if you're not using lineage to keep track of your glider's relatives.

COI - "Coefficient Of Inbreeding". It is the calculation used to determine the level of inbreeding on an idividual glider. The lower the better, it means the glider has cleaner lines. Some breeders won't breed over 5%, 10%, etc. I try to stay 3-4 or less, I strive to produce joeys that are 1-2% if at all possible. Some bigger breeders or 'mills' will breed gliders as high as 15-25% which is VERY dangerous. I would suggest checking lineage and looking for the lowest COI possible when considering pairing up gliders for the purpose of breeding.
